Rod Racks & Storage
Organising and storing your rods gets more and more complicated as the number of rods you own increases – a no doubt familiar feeling for avid anglers. After you've been out on the hunt for bass, snapper, flathead and more, you'll need somewhere to safely store your rod until your next adventure. With display stands and rod racks, you'll be able to store your fishing rods away from harm and in a suitable condition.
Should fishing rods be stored vertically or horizontally?
It is recommended that when possible, you should store your rods vertically, resting on the butt of the handle. If you are to store your rods horizontally, it is best done so with at least 3 supports across the length of the rod so that is does not put a curve in the rod. You should also remove the weight of the reels from the rods. Cleaning your rods prior to storing them will also help maintain it and lead to better performance and a longer life. To clean your rod, wipe all dirt off with a damp cloth. Do not use solvents or store somewhere that it will be exposed to the elements such as sad and poor weather.
How do you store fishing rods?
There are several ways to store your rods depending on your storage space at home. With vertical and horizontal racks to choose from, you can find wall-mounted stands to keep them off the ground or even ceiling-mounted displays so that you don't lose any valuable floor space. If you have enough space, vertical storage racks are a great way to display your collection and tend to be much easier to reach and rest your rods on.
Why is rod storage so important?
The most important reason to store your rod properly is to keep them protected against damage and help prolong their lifespan. Despite having incredible strength when reeling in a fish, rods are rather vulnerable and delicate. A damaged fishing rod can lead to nicks and cracks in the guides which may lead to your line snapping and losing your catch. Your gear will also last much longer if you maintain your fishing rod and prevent it from bending.
