Women's Thermals
Thermal underwear and other base layer clothing for women is designed to be comfortable, moisture-wicking, odour-resistant and lightweight while trapping in warmth and regulating your core body temperature. At BCF, our range of thermal base layers includes long sleeve tops and Long Johns that are ideal for alpine adventures and everyday wear during cooler months. When you hit the snow or it starts to rain, our women's thermals can be paired with a rain jacket or fleece jacket as well as a beanie and gloves to accessorise, plus some high-performance hiking boots.
What materials are used for base layers?
Thermal underwear or clothing is generally used as a base layer for alpine adventures, hiking during winter and sometimes as everyday wear in colder climates. To ensure that you stay warm, base layers are often made with merino wool or synthetic materials such as polyester. Advantages to wearing thermal base layers include a regulated core temperature while still allowing airflow and moisture-wicking abilities to remove perspiration. While you may think that warm clothing needs to be thick or heavy, our women's base layers are also lightweight so that you can pair with a mid-layer that keeps you warm and an outer layer that is waterproof and protects you from the snow, wind and rain.
How do I care for thermals?
To help maintain their soft and cosy structure, it's important to always follow the label for instructions on how to launder your thermals. A general rule of thumb for washing base layers is to use low temperatures and air dry. Most thermals should be tumble dried or ironed. Make sure your thermal base layer is completely dry before storing.
