Touring Tents
If you're an avid adventurer discovering the world around you, then you're probably aware of the pain and time it takes to set up and dismantle a tent each time you move campsite. Knowing that your time could be better spent exploring nature, BCF stock a range of touring tents from 2-person up to 8-person that can be set up within one minute. Perfect for any sized group or family, you can shop a range of touring tents for sale from brands such as Darche, Oztent, and Wanderer.
What is a touring tent?
The purpose of a touring tent is to be deployed and packed away quickly and easily using a folding frame system or a centre pole design that pushes up the roof. Touring tents are typically weather resistant, providing comfort and protection from the elements.
Available at BCF in sizes up to 8-person tents, some large touring tents tend to weigh more than other lightweight hiking tents and will require a vehicle for transportation. If you're looking for something lighter, check out our BCF dome tents and hiking tents. Large touring tents also come with separate sleeping areas for groups or families with the additional benefit of an extendable front awning.
Commonly used among fourbie drivers, moto-campers and frequently moving groups, touring tents are also available as rooftop tents. These tents mount to the roof of your vehicle and set up with a simple unfold when you reach your destination.
How to find a durable and reliable touring tent?
There are several factors to consider when purchasing a touring tent. From ventilation to quality of the fabric and zippers, every part of the tent plays a role in durability and reliability.
Always look for strong and sturdy poles such as carbon fibre or aluminium preferably thicker than 8mm. All quality tents should use ripstop fabric (polyester or canvas) and include a waterproof coating that is also UV resistant.
Despite using thick and heavy fabric for durability, touring tents should also provide good ventilation. Mesh doors are usually the most common form of ventilation, though closable vents can also assist in allowing the air to circulate.
Two of the most common faults in cheap tents include a broken zipper and damaged seams, which cause leaks. Unfortunately, no matter what manufacturers do, the seams tend to always fall apart. Thankfully, in brands such as Darche and Oztent, it will take years of hard usage for this to happen. These tents also feature triple or quadruple seam sewing along the zipper (where the tent endures the most stress) as well as a zipper made from a strong material.
What are the best touring tent brands?
At BCF, we stock a large selection of touring tents across a wide array of quality name brands to ensure you have the best experience.
In our Darche Safari Tent range, you can find touring tents that are built tough yet still easy to pitch, suitable for all camping and outdoor adventures.
