What are the largest family tents?
The size of your family tent will depend on the size of your family and the extra space you'd like to have during your camping adventure. For a smaller family of three or four, a 6-person tent may be sufficient, but our big family tents at BCF cater for up to 12 people. Each family tent is designed to bring your family together while still providing the space you need to have a break or a little bit of privacy. Some large family tents feature front awnings for extra shade while any windows with bug proof mesh are useful for ventilation and insect protection. Family tents are designed from strong materials that have individual waterproof and sun protection ratings.
How long does it typically take to set up a tent?
The time it takes to set-up a tent will rely on the type of tent you purchase. Family tents may take a bit more time for construction and may require a lending hand to help erect the steel poles that will inevitably secure a rigid structure. While still providing strength and durability, instant tents and pop-up tents are designed to be set up within minutes.
What should I look for when buying a camping tent?
Each camper has differing preferences to how they like their campsite and what they need in a tent. The questions you'll need to ask yourself include:
- How often will the tent be used?
- How many people will be camping with me?
- Do I need to carry it a long distance?
- Where am I going to be camping and what's the weather supposed to be like during my stay?
- Will I need help assembling this tent?
- How much do I want to spend?
All of this and more is covered in our BCF’ing Experts Tent Buying Guide.
What tent accessories do I need for camping?
It's important that you're fully equipped to secure your tent. Should wind and rain come through your campsite, having some extra poles, pegs and guy ropes can come in handy. Lights and lanterns will also be useful during the evening which can be powered by solar panels. Depending on the size of your tent or if you select a swag, having a tarp over the top can help prevent against mildew.
