Electric Boat Motors
Revolutionise your next boating adventure with our extensive range of electric outboard motors. These machines have become essential for small fishing trips sporting quiet engines and compact propellers that allow anglers to stealthily manoeuvre with minimal disturbance reducing the chance of startling your next catch.
Our 12v electric outboard motors are available in thrust ratings up to 65lb with 55lb being sufficient for most small boats in closed water and 18lb - 24lb ideal for fishing kayaks. These outboards are a perfect addition for any angling enthusiast as more impoundments around the country move toward electric motors only in an effort to reduce water traffic, run-off and noise pollution. Kick back and relax on your next day on the water and let the motor do the work.
Check out our extensive range of fresh and saltwater electric motors from popular brands Lowrance, Minn Kota and Watersnake available online or cruise into your local BCF store where our Expert team will help you find an outboard suitable for your next adventure.
What size electric motor do you need for your boat?
First of all you need to know the overall length and weight of your boat. This will determine what thrust motor you will need to move your boat around effectively. Measure how far it is from the top of the gunwale (where you will be mounting the motor) to the water line. That will give you the shaft length required.
As a general rule of thumb:
- Boats 4.5m and under: 30-50lb thrust
- Boats over 4.5m: 50-80lb thrust
Do you need a boat licence for your electric motor?
Regulations differ state by state and are subject to change. Some states require a licence for recreational boating, while others don't. Make sure to check the regulations for your local area before you set out on the water.
