Small-Medium Hard Bodies
Small 35-45mm diving minnow/crank baits are perfect diving hard bodies for Bream, Flathead and Bass.
Hot Tip
When retrieving is to slow roll the lure and where possible make contact with the bottom, this will cause a disturbance and attract the fish. Medium sized 50-70mm diving hard bodies are great for Bass, Jacks, Salmon and Flathead.
Hot Tip
When retrieving is to sometimes twitch the lure. This can entice a strike when the fish are shutdown. 70-100mm hard bodies are perfect for imitating larger baitfish. Estuary species such as Jacks, Jewfish, Barra and Flathead are the key species to target.
Hot Tip
Try to choose a lure with an internal rattle. Often the rattle inside the lure can trigger the bite.
Large Hard Bodies
110-190mm diving hard bodies work well for Barra, Jewfish and Threadfin salmon in the estuaries as well as offshore trolling. Trolling these lures in the open water can produce some great species such as Tuna, Mackerel, Wahoo, Kingfish and many more.
Hot Tip
When trolling is to have a wide spread of different colours to suit conditions as well as a selection of lures that dive to different depths.
Small Poppers
Small poppers can be used on Bream in the salt water and Bass in the fresh water. These small poppers are designed to imitate wounded insects on the surface
Medium Sized Surface Lures
Designed to target your larger estuary & freshwater species, including Jacks, Barra, Bass and Cod. Poppers and surface walkers are the lure of choice.
Hot Tip
For using these lures is to allow a pause after every pop. Allow up to 2 seconds and work them slowly.
Larger Poppers
Larger poppers are the ultimate surface lure when targeting species such as GT’s, Queenfish, Kingfish and more. When popping for these species cast close to the structure. Rocky headlands, rock bars or shallow reefs are a good start.
Hot Tip
When casting poppers for pelagic fish is to wear gloves. Casting large lures all day can cause damage to your hands, so gloves are a great way to prevent this.
