Hot Tip
Tide and time for crabbing is based a lot on past experience but as a rule of thumb; fish on a half moon phase where there is little run as the crabs venture further to find food.
Four easy steps:
- Clean your crabs. Some people clean the crabs before cooking and some clean after. It’s up to you.
- Pour 5 litres of water into a large pot & add at least 5 tablespoons of sea salt. Bring to a rapid boil.
- Place the crabs into the pot. Larger crabs take about 15-20 minutes and smaller crabs take about 8-10 minutes.
- The crabs should turn bright orange when they are done. Remove the crabs and place on ice or in cold water to stop 4 any further cooking. Step 5 - Serve up and enjoy!
