This may be the best camp oven cook up we've ever done! Sammy whips up some delicious camp oven scones. Topped off with a bit of strawberry jam and cream. Strap in for a ripper of a recipe and some handy hints and tips for your next camp oven cook up!
Ingredients
- 3 Cups self raising flour
- 1 Cup cream
- 1 Cup lemonade
- Jam of your choosing
- Whipped cream
Method
Add self raising flour, cream and lemonade into a large mixing bowl and mix with a butter knife. Try not to overwork the mixture. Dust inside of camp oven (cast iron) with self raising flour to prevent sticking. Get hands on, divide and roll mixture into clumps the size of a small rissole. Space evenly into camp oven. Chuck on the lid and place on the coals. Make sure coals are spread evenly top and bottom. Depending on size of fire cook for 10-15min. Remove to cool and pull apart. Topped off with a bit of strawberry jam and cream. Makes roughly 6
Any cream you have left over give a real good shake. Eventually it will turn into whipped cream that you can put on your scones later.
