Roof Racks
Whether you're heading on a 4WD adventure, hitting the beach with your mates, taking your work equipment to the jobsite, or just need an easy mounting solution for an awning or kayak, a set of roof racks is an affordable and convenient way to add extra storage space to any ute or 4x4.
Benefits of using roof racks
Roof racks make for a great addition to most vehicles, allowing for maximum storage space. This keeps the inside of your car clutter free while providing room for additional passengers or a place to keep delicate items free from exposure to the elements. Roof racks make light work of carrying larger oversized items that can't fit in the boot or tray such as tents, kayaks, stand up paddle boards and surfboards, as well as all your bulky camping gear. Roof racks also allow the transportation of flammable goods such as LPG or fuel, which should not be stored inside.
What style roof racks are best?
Choosing the correct roof rack and fitting kit (sold separately) is highly important for ensuring all your outdoor adventures are fun and memorable. At BCF, roof racks are available in a range of different styles and brands to suit the needs of most individuals or vehicles. Rhino-Rack offer all kinds of roof rack types, and also have a bunch of cracker roof rack accessories. If you're after a roof rack that is built stronger and can hold a household's worth of stuff on top of your car, then we've got you covered.
Head into your local BCF store where the team of BCFing experts will be able to assist you in finding not only the best roof rack, but also the fitting kit to suit your specific vehicle.
How much weight can you put on roof racks?
Each vehicle has an individual rating for the maximum amount of weight that can be applied to the roof called a roof load rating. This weight rating is easily accessible and can be found in the owner's manual of your vehicle. Exceeding the limit is a recipe for disaster and can lead to serious safety issues. The roof racks themselves also come with a weight rating limit which varies from rack to rack. Some lighter units specifically designed for on-road use will be rated to 60kg, while others with off-road intentions will have a maximum load rating of 100kg (per pair).
Roof rack accessories
Although roof racks may be of great use and provide numerous advantages, they are also equipped to take a variety of optional accessories which you may find handy. These additions include baskets in a range of sizes that allow you to maximize space, as well as kayak holders for ensuring your pride and joy is kept protected and secure. We also stock fishing rod holders, tie-down straps, load covers and nets, and more. All these accessories are perfect in aiding to hold your precious goods secure.
Why do you need a fitting kit?
Prorack fitting kits have been designed specifically to be used with Prorack roof racks. They help to keep your roof racks in place on your vehicle with a locking system that allows them to be removed as you wish. Fitting kits come in both through and flush mount styles with over 900 different kit designs to suit any vehicle.
How much do roof racks cost?
The selection of roof racks stocked at BCF vary, as do their price. Soft roof racks tend to have a more affordable price tag and make for an effective way to transport your essentials to and from the campground, while their removable properties let you swap vehicles or remove them entirely with the drop of a hat. Our solid roof racks price varies depending on the size, model and overall strength of the unit. Take your fishing kayak to that secluded gem choc-a-block with fish, or relax under the shade of an awning with friends and family – the possibilities are endless with a set of roof racks! If you join Club BCF, you can also access exclusive specials and savings both instore and online.
